Atlantic City has long been Las Vegas rival on the East Coast, but after the financial crisis the city seems to be more and more in trouble. The unemployment rates are high and less people are stopping by for a visit. The casinos which usually keep it in the plus are reporting a 23% decline in profits. Growing competition from other states is certainly not helping. New York, Pennsylvania and others are all competing for a shrinking number of gambling customers. In addition, places like Macau and French Monte Carlos casinos are now reaping the profits. Playing casino games online further increases the competition, since people save on their travel costs while being able to use an online casino bonus to play.
